The German Ambassador H.E. Mr. Pius Fischer discussed with the President of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro the possibility of enhancing economic cooperation between Montenegro and Germany.
The President of the Chamber informed his guest about current economic developments in Montenegro and methods of work of the Montenegrin Chamber of Economy. The Chamber of Economy of Montenegro has been fostering for a long time good relations with the Chamber of Commerce of Germany both on the bilateral level and through common work in inter-chamber organizations.
The President Mijušković and the Ambassador Fischer agreed that the trade exchange and the level of investments between the two countries is at low level, and that more activities should be carried out which would result in their improvement. The common view of respondents was that the conditions for organizing a business forum that brings together interested entrepreneurs from both countries as well as potential investors from Germany are met. Namely, all of the last year's highest level meetings of the two countries, which were monitored by economic associations of both countries, have created an ambient to initiate activities that will enhance economic cooperation. For this reason in the forthcoming days the preparations for such a meeting will start, which will be organized by the two Chambers and the Eastern Committee of German economy in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and the Embassy.  
Speaking of possible areas for investments, the President emphasized the energy, organic farming and tourism sectors. One of the possibilities for establishing quality cooperation is identified in the development of municipal infrastructure (solid waste treatment, waste water, etc.) A good model for this would be a public-private partnership.
The Ambassador, as very important, outlined the fact that Montenegro has signed free trade agreements with Russia and Ukraine, which are important markets for Germany and that it might be a chance for cooperation between Montenegro and Germany.
The Ambassador informed the President that in November this year an annual meeting of the German tour operators will take place in Montenegro, which, although dealing with issues of world tourism, with the decision itself to be hold in Montenegro can be useful for promoting tourism cooperation.
